It’s official folks. Warner Bros. have locked down an all star cast for the upcoming David Ayer directed DC super-villain blockbuster Suicide Squad. The locked down cast includes Oscar winner Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as the Joker, Will Smith, as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as the Enchantress.
Greg Silverman from Warner Bros had this to say about the latest development:
The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one. We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.
Jesse Eisenberg is said to be in talks to reprise his role as Lex Luthor from Zack Snyder‘s Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Eisenberg exclusion from Warner Bros. announcement is due to the fact he is still in talks with the studio to appear, but according to strong sources, he will be included in the final cast line-up.
Amanda Waller – the one who sees over all of the Suicide Squad’s activity – has still not being cast, but Warner Bros are trying to get Oprah Winfrey for the part. The other two actresses in the short-list include Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.
The rumored appearance of Jesse Eisenberg‘s Lex Luthor from Zack Snyder‘s Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice was not included in this announcement, although the rumor that he is in talks to appear continue to have strong backing from sources.
Another key character yet to be cast is Amanda Waller. She is the “Nick Fury” equivalent to the Suicide Squad and Warner Bros. expects to have the role cast before the production begins shooting. The short list includes Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Oprah Winfrey.
Considering the quality of the cast, it doesn’t seem like it will be too hard to convince Oprah to jump on board the tent-pole movie.
We will keep you updated peeps.
